“A distraction” from feminism: Bayou comes out of silence and accuses Rousseau of “going too far”

In silence for several days, the environmentalist deputy denies having committed psychological violence against his former partner, in an interview with the newspaper Le Monde published on Tuesday.

An expected response. “For me, feminism and McCarthyism should not be confused,” said Julien Bayou in an interview with the World published this Tuesday morning, thus addressing Sandrine Rousseau, who publicly questioned him for “behavior that can damage the moral health of women.”

According to him, the deputy “has gone too far.” “It is not an excess of feminism, it is fun. (…) We do not balance in prime time the psychological situation of someone who suffers or accusations without elements,” he adds.

“I am presumed guilty”

The now former head of Europa Ecologie-Les Verts (EELV) says “there is no Bayou issue”.

“There is no accusation, I cannot defend myself against it, and yet I am presumed guilty,” he denounces.

An internal investigation had been opened in advance at the end of June. “To be factual, I have never committed psychological violence against my former partner and I intend to prove it,” defends the deputy from Paris.

Referring to an “unsustainable situation,” Julien Bayou announced last Monday that he was resigning from his positions as national secretary of EELV and co-chairman of the environmental group.

This Monday, his former partner officially seized the investigation unit against violence against women of the EELV this Monday and wishes to be heard “under certain conditions that guarantee the security of the testimonies”, he learned in a press release from his lawyer .
