Officially, the situation does not change. The fact that the wife of LFI MP Adrien Quatennens has filed a complaint against him does not bring a “new element” to the case, and no one within the group is calling for his resignation, LFI MP Manual Bompard said on Tuesday. .
After two handrails, the wife of Adrien Quatennens filed a complaint in Lille on September 26 against the deputy, who was already in the sights of a preliminary investigation by the prosecution.
Asked by France Inter about this presentation of a complaint revealed on Monday, Manuel Bompard considered that “it does not add any new element to the merits of this case.”
“We discussed it, none of the deputies of the insubordinate France asked for the departure of Adrien Quatennens, neither from the group nor from his parliamentary role,” he said.
Two handrails, one complaint
Following the revelation of a first handrail by the Canard Enchaîné, the Lille prosecutor’s office indicated in mid-September that it had opened an investigation as part of its “proactive criminal policy for the treatment of domestic violence”.
Then a second handrail was presented, then the wife of Adrien Quatennens indicated on the 26th to the police station that “she wanted to change her two handrails for a complaint,” the deputy’s entourage said on Monday. “She brought up three separate events, two of which were very recent, she finally filed a complaint,” said another source familiar with the matter.
Following the revelation of the first handrail, Adrien Quatennens had withdrawn from his role as coordinator of La France Insoumise, acknowledging the violence against his wife in a press release posted on Twitter. In particular, he had admitted having “slapped” her, “a year ago”, “in a context of extreme tension and mutual aggressiveness”, stating that he “deeply regretted this gesture”.
