The majority of the French consider that the opposition of the rebellious France is “too radical”

By contrast, only 34% of French people make this criticism of the RN, according to a recent survey. Fruit of two different strategies in the National Assembly.

A strategy that does not work with public opinion? 53% of French people consider that the opposition of La France insoumise (LFI) is “too radical”, according to a survey carried out by Ipsos and Sopra Steria for The world, the Jean-Jaurès Foundation and Cevipof. On the other hand, only 34% of those consulted make this criticism of the National Rally (RN).

In addition, 42% of those surveyed “completely” disapprove of the way in which the rebel deputies behave in the National Assembly, compared to 29% of the deputies of the calling party.

Two different strategies

The authors of this survey recall that the two political parties have made different decisions. On the rebellious side of France, that of a “noisy and particularly radical opposition (…) hoping in particular to reconquer popular circles.” In the RN it is about “supporting certain bills to win the favor of public opinion and more credibility.”

Result: 35% of French people approve of the strategy of the far-right formation at the Palais-Bourbon. This places it ahead of all other political parties. In contrast, with only 24% approval, LFI is behind Les Républicains (LR), the Socialist Party (PS), Europe Ecologie-Les Verts (EELV), and the French Communist Party (PCF).

“Stage Conflict”

A direct consequence of these strategic differences: 39% of those surveyed believe that Marine Le Pen’s party is capable of governing, compared to 26% of Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s party. Another worrying element for the rebels: 59% of the French believe that the LFI is a dangerous party. Or a little more than the RN (54%).

Invited this Wednesday from BFMTV-RMC, François Ruffin defended the method of the rebels. Elected under the motto “Picardie Debout” on the Somme, he nevertheless sits with the LFI deputies in the hemicycle. According to him, “the National Assembly should be a place where conflict arises.”

“The role of democracy is to institutionalize, verbalize, stage the conflict (…) so that there are places of incarnation of the conflicts that run through society,” Amiens developed.
