“We are not fooled”: the skeptical opposition before his meeting with Emmanuel Macron

The President of the Republic consults this Wednesday afternoon the executives of various political parties, including Nupes and the National Assembly. Before participating, they expressed their reservations.

Present, but not yet convinced. As they prepare to meet Emmanuel Macron as part of his “big political initiative”, various party leaders have expressed reservations. Arrived in a group, the heads of Nupes (Bompard, Faure, Tondelier and Roussel) stressed that they were not “incautious” before a “communication operation”.

A little earlier, Manuel Bompard explained to BFMTV the reason for his arrival in Saint-Denis:

“We are here to tell the President of the Republic that his policy is harming the country (…) We come without illusions but with determination.”

The elected representatives of the left still wanted to go to the president to present their demands on purchasing power, health or even the climate issue.

This skepticism is not the prerogative of the left. This Wednesday morning, the deputy Edwige Díaz (National Group) pointed out her strong disagreement with the Executive’s policy so far, as did Jordan Bardella, who said she was “without illusions” when she arrived.

“I did not come to serve as a crutch for the Head of State”, explained the number 1 of the RN to the press.

closed meeting

This “great political initiative” desired by Emmanuel Macron takes place behind closed doors from 3:00 p.m. at the Saint-Denis Legion of Honor school, in Seine-Saint-Denis. It must lead to “immediate decisions, projects and legislative proposals, but also referendum projects”, as announced by the Head of State.

The different political horizons should be exchanged more particularly on the “international situation of France”, the “cohesion of the nation”, the place of the school, the “integration”, the “purchasing power”… great questions on which It may be difficult to reach a consensus.
