“New measures to reinforce the attractiveness of night shifts”. The Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, on a trip to Rouen, announced on Thursday the continuation of some so-called “fast” measures announced last year by the former Minister of Health, François Braun. Its aim is, in particular, to make better use of night work by non-medical staff and healthcare professionals.
As regards nurses, nurses and caregivers, the executive announces the continuation from January 2024 of the 25% increase in remuneration for night work. The 20% increase in hourly wages on Sundays or holidays will also become permanent.
“We must recognize these particular limitations that weigh on these different professions,” declared the head of government, who considers that these measures “will contribute to reinforcing the attractiveness” of these professions.
As for doctors, Élisabeth Borne confirmed that the 50% revaluation of on-calls will become permanent, both for public and private doctors.
Measures that cost 1,100 million euros a year
These measures represent an effort of 1.1 billion euros in one year, according to Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne.
The executive also made other announcements.
