PR believes there is “room for dialogue” between teachers and the government

The president of the republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, said on Saturday that there is still “room for dialogue” between teachers and the government at a time when strikes are being announced for the start of the next school year.

“This is not a matter of a tantrum. It is a matter of finding ways,” Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa told journalists in São João da Pesqueira, where he participates in Vindouro.

According to him, “the fundamental thing about education is knowing how to create paths and get people to find new paths”.

“If there is no imagination in education to create new avenues, where will they be?” he asked.

The school year starts between September 12 and 15 and the strikes already declared by some unions indicate a year marked by opposition from teachers, similar to the previous one.
