Free public nurseries, improved remuneration of early childhood professionals, massive investment in training… LFI defends 19 measures to fight against “the deterioration” of the situation of children.

The LFI group in the National Assembly, “concerned” by the “deterioration” of the situation of children in France, presented this Tuesday an “emergency plan for children” that provides, in particular, public nurseries, canteens and school supplies free. “For the first time since 1945, the situation of children in France worsens,” attacked the president of the group Mathilde Panot.

The Val-de-Marne deputy provided a series of statistics that support her statement: increase in infant mortality with 2,700 deaths a year before the first year in 2021, increase in the number of children sleeping on the street (almost 2,000 according to a barometer published at the end of August), the non-schooling of thousands of children…

“The only irresponsible father today is the State”

“We say it forcefully. When after the death of Nahel (…) the only response from the government was to make parents feel guilty (…) when it is known that three million children are below the poverty line In this country, the only irresponsible father today is the State”, criticized Mathilde Panot.

His plan calls for 19 measures, including free public day care, massive investment in training, and improved working conditions and remuneration for early childhood professionals, a sensitive issue as a book detailing practices is published this week. of some private nurseries (“The price of the cradle”, Seuil).

LFI has renewed its proposal to create a parliamentary commission of inquiry into the alleged excesses in this sector, without making use for the moment of its “drawing rights”, which allow each group to create one commission of inquiry per session on its own initiative.

Other proposals, canteens, supplies, transport and free school outings and extracurricular activities, the creation of an observatory of non-schooling, as requested by the associations, the payment of family allowances from the first child, or a greater doubling of the family support allowance paid to single-parent families.
