The head of LR deputies threatens a motion of censure

Olivier Marleix warns that “the motion of censure is neither a totem of virility nor a taboo”, before a parliamentary return that promises to be tense for the executive.

This Tuesday, the deputies of the Les Républicains (LR) party return to Saint-Malo. The opportunity for some to send messages. In the front row, its chef, Olivier Marleix. In the columns of FigaroThe elected representative of Eure-et-Loire already warns: “the motion of censure is neither a totem of virility nor a taboo.”

A position affirmed for months but renewed to increase the stake, before the examination of bills in which the executive does not achieve an absolute majority: the budget and immigration, a text already postponed several times.

“I was obviously heard.”

Apparently, the parliamentary pause has not changed anything in the roles assigned to each of the oppositions. The right, once again, could tip the balance to one side or the other. By voting in favor of a transpartisan motion of censure on the pension reform, some of its deputies made the government and Élisabeth Borne break out in a cold sweat, whose overthrow was decided by 9 votes.

Regarding immigration, Olivier Marleix highlights the firmness of his people’s policy: “the French would not tolerate us pretending. It would be opening a boulevard to Marine Le Pen,” says the deputy, whose party presented two bills on the subject .

For the moment, the executive’s text still does not satisfy the right due, in particular, to the creation of a “profession in tension” residence permit. Olivier Marleix once again shows his muscles, raising the threat of a motion of censure in the face of a text that is “lax in this regard.” And slide mischievously:

“They obviously listened to me, otherwise they wouldn’t have backed down eight times.”

Everyone leaves their cards. The left wing of the majority defends the residence permit for “occupation in tension” and signs a platform in this sense in Release this Tuesday with deputies from EELV, PCF and PS. Or how to summarize the enigma of government.

“Foam arm”

The budget review, scheduled earlier in the fall, does not open with better auspices for the presidential field. Also here Olivier Marleix mentions a motion of censure, in case his in-laws are not sufficiently listened to.

A message that could please Aurélien Pradié. The LR deputy for Lot, who distinguished himself as a leader of the protest against the pension reform in his area, called on the right this Tuesday in The Parisian seriously consider a vote of no confidence on the budget or immigration.

In essence, the opposition strategy that must be undertaken against the government. Aurélien Pradié has a very specific idea and he sums it up like this: “You don’t enter a confrontation with foam arms.”
