The Prime Minister will no longer attend the TVI/CNN Portugal interview, which was scheduled for Monday evening, for health reasons. The head of government assured DN that António Costa will, however, appear in the debate on the motion of censure, which will take place in parliament next Tuesday.
António Costa’s interview was scheduled for tonight, during Jornal Nacional, on TVI, and would be conducted by journalists Sara Pinto and Pedro Santos Guerreiro. The second part would be broadcast to CNN Portugal, following the town hall model, with the Prime Minister answering questions from citizens present in the studio.
Despite the cancellation of the interview, the Prime Minister is expected to resume his duties next Tuesday, the day he will be present at the plenary meeting of the Assembly of the Republic, where the motion of censure submitted by Chega will be discussed. at 3:00 pm.
The party leader, André Ventura, formalized the submission of the motion of censure to the government on Friday, after accusing the PSD of “tibiity, weakness and laxity” for announcing its intention to abstain from the vote.
“We do this in the knowledge that the beginning of a new parliamentary term is always a turbulent moment in the life of parliaments, but we also understand that there is an accumulation of situations that have continued since the end of the parliamentary term and which we should not allowing the political year to begin without a strong, firm and inevitable censorship of the government of António Costa,” Ventura argued about the motion of censure, which has a certain edge thanks to the Socialist majority.
