Applications for the Lisbon City Council’s new Municipal Affordable Rent Grant will open on October 25 and run until October 16, with the municipality expected to support an additional 200 families.
According to the clarifications provided to Lusa by the Brand and Communications Department of the Lisbon City Council, the municipal affordable rental subsidy already supports 800 families, while the municipality is waiting for 1,000 families.
With a budget of 1.6 million euros, the new subsidy is aimed at those who spend more than 30% of their income on paying rent, but it is also designed “as a housing solution for displaced professionals”.
Among these professionals, the Municipality of Lisbon has “prioritized displaced teachers”, having signed a protocol with the Directorate General of Educational Administration to publicize this program among teachers stationed in Lisbon.
The municipality has added two new features to the program: allowing citizens without a current contract to apply for this support, but from now on, and applying for anyone who owns real estate outside the Lisbon metropolitan area.
Those interested in applying must register and complete the application on the Habitar Lisboa Platform.
