Minister of Solidarity Relationship with Minister Pedro Nuno Santos

The Minister of Territorial Cohesion this Saturday in Covilhã believed that “in life and in politics” one should not abandon friends in times of difficulty and, questioned by journalists, said she expressed her solidarity with Minister Pedro Nuno Santos .

During a session in Covilhã, and on the fight against the tolls facing that region, the minister said that, in life and in politics, she does not abandon her friends “in times of difficulty” and thanked it Platform for SCUT’s replacement on the A23 and A25 recognizing its commitment to this cause.

“As in life at least I am like this, I don’t run away or leave friends in times of difficulty. I refuse. We have a lot of this human nature and in politics we also have to do more and more what the Platform did few days ago, that is not to abandon those who cast your vote in the Council of Ministers”orphan.

The minister spoke in Covilhã, Castelo Branco district, on the sidelines of the III Jornadas do Interior, which was organized by Jornal do Fundão to debate and reflect on the future of Serra da Estrela.

On departure, when asked by journalists whether she was referring to the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Ana Abrunhosa, when talking about the need not to abandon friends in times of difficulty, preferred to answer with a question, leaving a call to analyze the country you want.

“I ask the question: do we want a country in which the solidarity of one minister with another minister of the same government is national news? I’m just asking that question.”

Ana Abrunhosa once again questioned whether she was maintaining the solidarity she had already shown in the past with Minister Pedro Nuno Santos, but Ana Abrunhosa assured that she did and underlined that this also applies to the Minister’s family and in particular her father.

“Of course I’ll stay [a solidariedade]. Solidarity, friendship, with Pedro, with the family and especially with his father, who is a great businessman”declared.

Jornal Observador reported Friday that a company owned by the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing and his father benefited under direct agreement from a government contract.

However, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing has today clarified that Pedro Nuno Santos is not in a situation of incompatibility in the Temacal case, invoking an advice from the Advisory Council of the Public Prosecution Service requested by the government in 2019.

The Minister for Territorial Cohesion was also recently involved in a controversy after it was announced that two companies run by her husband have received public funding, an area under Ana Abrunhosa.

In an article that appeared in the newspaper Público on Monday, the minister wrote that she always acted “legally” in the performance of her duties.

“I do not follow the business of my husband, an old businessman, son and grandson of entrepreneurs, to whom, by the way, I am married under a regime of separation of property (…) To make it absolutely clear : neither I nor any from my secretaries of state, we have ever had direct or indirect intervention in the process of approving candidatures, or in granting any financial support,” said Ana Abrunhosa.
