The president of the republic promised this Thursday to examine “very carefully” the diploma arranging the new executive leadership of the SNS, and reiterated that he is waiting for the proposal to fire Marta Temido and her replacement at the Ministry of Health.
Leaving the Estoril conferences, which started today at the Nova School Business & Economics (SBE) in Cascais, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa was questioned by journalists about the resignation of Marta Temido as Minister of Health, known in the early hours of Tuesday.
“I am waiting for the exemption proposal, I am waiting for the appointment proposal. As for the regulation of the diploma at the SNS, I have already said that I will examine it very carefully because I have doubts about the first diploma that was issued”, he repeated, in what was the first time he had been questioned by journalists on the subject.
Regarding her being a retiring minister completing the process of approving the diploma that forms the executive leadership of the SNS, the President of the Republic declined to comment “on this”, insisting only that he ” regulation later”, without adding further comments on the case.
In the early hours of Tuesday, Marta Temido presented her resignation from the post of health minister, understanding that she “no longer had the conditions” to hold the position, which was accepted by the prime minister.
On that day, Prime Minister António Costa expressed “very deep gratitude” for the work Marta Temido has done as health minister, explaining that “this time” he did not feel in a position to refuse the resignation request.
In addition to the calendar issues that will not make this process of replacing Marta Temido any time soon, the head of the management then added that there is the diploma file for the establishment of the management of the SNS.
“It was very important that the current minister still presents it to the Council of Ministers so that we do not have further delays in the approval of this diploma, which is a key piece in strengthening the SNS. Even the President of the Republic, when he issued the statute, said it is now very important not to waste time implementing it. I wouldn’t want to waste time,” he justified at the time.
