Ventura: “It’s about time” to schedule parliamentary elections

Chega’s leader declared on Friday that “it is starting to be time” to give the Portuguese back the decision on which government they want, adding that he will ask Marcelo on Wednesday whether António Costa’s director “has passed the test “.

Speaking to journalists in Barcelos, Braga district, where he took part in a dinner meeting with activists,

André Ventura announced that Chega will have an audience with the President of the Republic on Wednesday to discuss health.

“Today I received confirmation from the Republic that it has accepted our request for a hearing and that it will take place next Wednesday the 1st and that it will be precisely on the issue of health,” he said.

According to Ventura, Marcelo said a year and a half ago that he would essentially evaluate this government based on health and education issues.

Now Chega wants to ask the president whether the government has “passed the test.”

“What we are going to tell him on the first day and at the end of all this time is whether he thinks the government has passed the test or whether it is time to give back the decision to the Portuguese about which government they want want. And I think it’s starting to happen. It is time for this to happen,” he stressed.

For Ventura, healthcare remains “in chaos” and in education we “continue to see teachers strike and organize strikes.”

Therefore, he emphasizes that Chega is ready “to be an alternative”, when the President of the Republic “understands” that parliamentary elections must be scheduled.
