PGR did not inform Costa’s president of the investigation

The President of the Supreme Court only learned of the independent investigation into the Prime Minister, António Costa, following the Influencer operation, on the same day the head of government resigned.

This is because, according to what was expressed this Friday by SIC, the Attorney General of the Republic (PGR), Lucília Gago, did not inform the President of the Supreme Court, Judge Conselheiro Henrique Araújo, about the investigation launched into Costa, resulting from the process that researches hydrogen, lithium and the Sines data center.

Remember that the so-called Influencer operation led to the appointment of nine defendants, including the Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff, Vítor Escária, and Diogo Lacerda Machado, an advisor close to Costa.

In this way, the President of the Supreme Court only became aware of the investigation into the Prime Minister on the same day as the Portuguese, on October 7, when the paragraph from the Public Prosecutor’s statement was made public.

“In the course of the investigation, it also emerged that suspects rely on the name and authority of the Prime Minister and his intervention to unblock proceedings in the above context. Such references will be independently analyzed in the context of an investigation to be opened at the Supreme Court, as this is the competent forum,” reads the above-mentioned paragraph of the PGR statement, which led to the Prime Minister’s resignation, which created a political crisis caused, with early elections scheduled for March 10.
