Pedro Nuno Santos accuses the PSD of wanting to ‘liberalize and privatize’ the social state

PS leadership candidate Pedro Nuno Santos declared this Sunday that the PSD wants to “liberalize, privatize and deregulate” the social state and accused Luís Montenegro of “brutality” in the promises he made to pensioners.

At a lunch meeting in Guimarães, Braga district, Pedro Nuno Santos admitted the need to reform the social state, but stressed that the PS “does not want to implement the reforms they [PSD] want to do.”

That is their project, they have always handed over part of the reforms. our social state to the market,” named.

Regarding the PSD leader’s recent promise to increase pensions, Pedro Nuno Santos spoke of “shamelessness”.

“The PSD must promise, contrary to what has been its political practice,” he declared, emphasizing that pensioners “are citizens who [os sociais-democratas] they were the most abusive.”

In his speech, the candidate also said he wants to work to ensure that “the National Health Service makes it unnecessary” to use private health insurance.

“We are acutely aware that part of our population is increasingly using private health insurance, has less confidence in the National Health Service and is increasingly using private health insurance. We must ensure that the National Health Department resource obsolete.” he said.

He even stated that one of his “greatest goals” is to ensure that the National Health Service “fulfills its role” of creating freedom and security.

“As people say, better done than perfect,” he said, emphasizing that “there are no perfect decisions.”

Pedro Nuno Santos refused to be labeled radical and simply called himself “frontal” and a man “with convictions.”

“Everything I told you is not radical, it is not moderate, it is socialist. In Portugal, radicalism is confused with having beliefs. I have beliefs here and I am frontal,” he stressed.
