The candidate for the position of PS general secretary, José Luís Carneiro, said in Baião on Saturday that he disagrees with the fact that partial election results have been announced because they could influence Saturday’s votes.
“I’m not going to comment on partial results that, from my point of view, shouldn’t even be known because, as happens in general elections, it is ultimately a form of conditioning.. For this reason, I do not want to comment on partial results,” he said after his vote at the PS/Baião headquarters, a municipality in the Porto district, where he comes from and where he was president of the chamber.
Asked by journalists about the already known results regarding the elections held on Friday in several districts of the country and which indicate an advantage for Pedro Nuno Santos, Carneiro said: “Today, 60% of militants vote, which means the majority of militants today are expressing their will.”.
The candidate said it is necessary to respect the will of activists, who “express their will today in a free and democratic way.”
“We hope that [a votação] be as democratic as possible,” he concluded.
