The liberal initiative wants passengers to be compensated when there is repression

The Liberal Initiative chairman defended Tuesday that when there are interruptions to river transport service, users should be compensated.

Rui Rocha made the river journey between Lisbon and Cacilhas, in the municipality of Almada, to draw attention to the restrictions experienced by the population who make this crossing and to defend the financial reimbursement to passengers corresponding to days of strikes or repressions.

“There is permanent instability in the service, with many interruptions that affect these populations that make this movement between the south bank and Lisbon. When there is no service, users must be compensated,” he said.

Rui Rocha explained that this is a measure that has already been introduced in France, for example.

The Liberal initiative, he added, also has other structural proposals that include the design of services, as this would be the best model.

Asked about the election of Pedro Nuno Santos as PS general secretary, Rui Rocha said he was promoted despite “the poor service to the country”.

“In any company, someone who decides to pay compensation of 500,000 euros via WhatsApp, not to mention the condition of the track and the condition of the housing for which he is directly responsible, would be unacceptable even for an intern. The PS, after this poor service to the country, believes that Pedro Nuno Santos is the Secretary General he should choose,” he stated.
