Montenegro accentuates the “obvious differences” between the PSD and the PS

The PSD leader defended on Tuesday that there are now “clear differences” between PSD and PS for voters to choose from in the March elections and that he guaranteed his party will not wait for the Socialists to be available for regime deals.

“It is a good thing that there are two options and that they are marked like this at the moment, because this is the best way for voters to be able to choose,” said Luís Montenegro in Estarreja.

According to the Social Democratic leader, “there is a PSD that is interested in a thriving economy, creating wealth and counting on everyone to provide the public services that people need.”

“There is then a nationalist, communist, socialist and blockist vision led by the current Secretary General of the PS,” Montenegro’s Pedro Nuno Santos claimed.

The PSD leader spoke to journalists after visiting the Estarreja market during his tour of the Aveiro district, as part of the “Sentir Portugal” initiative.

Regarding agreement between the two largest parties “on essential issues”, Luís Montenegro said that “it is always possible to have a political dialogue between all parties, especially those who bear the responsibility of leading governments”.

“We have always had this availability and I have encouraged the Socialist Party to be able to do this, namely to agree with us on a tax regime for young people that gives them the opportunity to pay less taxes in the first years of professional activity. ” he was an example.

Montenegro also emphasized that “he told the PS that the continued existence of the National Health Service implies a national pact between the public, private and social sectors, and preferably also with political actors”.

“I have already made myself available to work together, but it must be done without ideological restrictions,” he stated, admitting that “it will be difficult to find bridges of consensus” with the current PS, which says its political position to have changed.

“It was the PS that joined the Left Bloc and the Communist Party and nationalized the transport activities and the airline at all costs that we know,” he criticized.

According to Luís Montenegro’s lecture, it was the PS that “oriented itself more towards the extreme left side of the political spectrum and joined forces with parties that have a collectivist and state vision” for the country.
