Montenegro asks to compare advertisements and works of Pedro N. Santos as minister

The leader of the PSD asked the Portuguese this Wednesday to look at who has overseen housing and infrastructure in recent years and compare the announcements of major projects with their ability to implement projects.

During his visit to the Aveiro district of Costa Nova, Ílhavo, Luís Montenegro returned the argument of the inability to make a decision to Pedro Nuno Santos.

“There are many who promise the ability to make decisions, but they clearly show that there is a huge difference between what they say and what they do”Montenegro stated to journalists, referring to the new leader of the PS, who was responsible for Infrastructure between 2019 and 2023.

The PSD leader left out the question: “who has overseen housing and infrastructure in recent years?”, and then asks for a comparison between “the presentation sessions of major projects and the result”.

Luís Montenegro said that he again encountered the same problems as during the last election campaign, during his tour of the Aveiro district, to brag about the victory he achieved in the district over Pedro Nuno Santos.

“It was a campaign with a good memory for me, especially in 2015, because despite all the limitations of the 2011/2015 political cycle, we achieved an important victory hereinterestingly enough, with the two heads of the list on the PSD side and the PS side, who today are the respective party leaders,” he recalled.

In addition to once again emphasizing the differences between PS and PSD, Montenegro criticized the benefits granted to those who are not active, demanding an increase in salaries and a reduction in the tax burden for those who work.

“We are convinced that a country is not really fair if there are people who do not work with a higher monthly income than the people who do work.” declared.

However, he defended the protection of vulnerable people, especially pensioners.

“We have a proposal to improve the income of pensioners, by guaranteeing a minimum income of 820 euros until the end of the next parliamentary term,” he reiterated.

Luís Montenegro also said he was concerned about making a GP available to all citizens living in Portugal. “a promise that the previous government not only failed to keep, but even worsened the situation in 2023.”

He also expressed concern about “public schools in crisis”, with “many Portuguese using their family savings to provide young students with an answer that the public system does not provide”.
