Ventura says it’s time for right-wing parties to stop being ‘duty fools’

Chega’s president warned on Saturday of signs of unity among the various left-wing forces after the parliamentary elections, arguing that if right-wing parties do not do the same, “they will be the idiots on duty.”

André Ventura spoke before visiting the facilities of the Royal Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Lisbon, in the Chiado region, after being confronted with the content of the New Year’s message from the coordinator of Bloco de Esquerda, Mariana Mortágua.

“This message from Mariana Mortágua, like that of Paulo Raimundo and Pedro Nuno Santos, is the clarity that the left will do everything to stay in power. “If the right prefers to play games like ‘I’m not an ally with that’, or ‘I don’t form coalitions with this’, instead of wanting to govern, that’s the worst service we’re doing to democracy,” he warned.

As for Chega, André Ventura stated that the main goal is to put the right wing in charge of Portugal’s governance. And if this path is not followed by the entire right and if disagreements arise between right-wing parties after the March 10 parliamentary elections, then the following conclusion will be drawn: ‘If we don’t do it, we are the idiots. in function.”

“And it is time for the law to stop serving idiots,” he emphasized.

For the president of Chega, it is already clear “what the purpose of this message from Mariana Mortágua is, and what the left has at its disposal, with a view to uniting around a new Gerigonça”.

“I appeal to everyone who understands that this ‘device’ was a bad model of government to leave the House on March 10 to vote. Whether it is Mariana Mortágua, Paulo Raimundo or Pedro Nuno Santos, who is the main actor here, they have already done it. has made it clear that they will unite again, leaving out the right-wing parties,” he stressed.

This action by the left should, from André Ventura’s perspective, be “a challenge for the right to realize that it must create an alternative.”

“If the right does not create this alternative, the left will rule after March 10,” he emphasized.

Regarding his visit to the Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Lisbon, a 156-year-old institution founded by King Dom Luís, the Chega president believed that the government had not kept its promises “and that firefighters continue to be mistreated “.

“This is intertwined with problems we have in healthcare. As we know, firefighters are fundamental in hospital emergencies and pre-hospital situations. Let’s move into the year 2024 and firefighters will likely remain one of the most treated institutions in the country,” he added. .
