Bardella’s victory: Briois denounces a “beginning of the purge” after his departure from the new RN leadership

The mayor of Hénin-Beaumont, one of Marine Le Pen’s intimates, denounced this Saturday an “atrophy” of the party after his exclusion from the new executive body chaired by Jordan Bardella.

The tone rises after the victory of Jordan Bardella at the head of the RN. Although Steeve Briois was fifth in the National Council after the militants’ vote, his new boss did not offer him a place in the most powerful of the party’s institutions. What pushes him to react publicly.

“Although for many months I have been sounding the alarm about a possible re-radicalization, I can only see my eviction as a sanction for having wanted to raise awareness of a phenomenon that the facts confirm,” the mayor of Hénin-Beaumont replies in a press release. obtained by BFMTV.

Before quoting: “the flips made to certain fundamentalists, even the adoption of right-wing positions, contrary in my opinion to the ‘neither right nor left’ that prevailed for decades in the National Front”.

Steeve Briois was one of the followers of Louis Aliot, the only competitor of Jordan Bardella in the internal competition. Tensions had been high in recent weeks between the city councilman and the new president.

Supporters of the mayor of Perpignan have repeatedly pointed out too much leniency towards former party members who have joined Éric Zemmour or his closeness to supporters of the “great replacement”.

“The Beginning of a Purge”

Having not been appointed to the powerful executive office, Steeve Briois has again indicated that he refuses to sit, as the new president offered him, in the national office, a body with much less power.

This “would only have been a pretext for not confessing what is rather the beginning of a purge against those who defend the social line”, the councilor continues attacking.

After his election as party president with almost 85% of the vote, Jordan Bardella formed a new executive office dominated by people close to him such as Sébastien Chenu, Hélène Laporte and Edwige Diaz. The vice-presidency of the party, however, passes into the hands of his opponent, Louis Aliot, as a token of appeasement.

“Certain excesses still prove me right,” says Steeve Briois, who “regrets that years of demonization come to nothing for the sole purpose of pleasing an electoral minority, with the risk of a new one outside the RN.”
