It is midnight this Friday, November 29, and the Macronists can claim victory: the text that repeals the pension reform at age 64 defended by La Francia insumisa and the elected officials of the New Popular Front will not be adopted. As provided by the regulations of the National Assembly, the debates in the parliamentary niche of the LFI have ended. Therefore, the bill will not be put to the vote of deputies.
To prevent the vote, the Macronists used a technique as old as the National Assembly and already used by the left in the past: parliamentary obstruction. Elected representatives of the “common base” presented hundreds of amendments to delay the vote as long as possible.
