Now led by Attal, Renaissance wants to “understand why” the party is “losing momentum”

The Renaissance presidential party, led since December by former Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, aims to “build a path” between now and the 2027 presidential elections and to do so launch general and thematic state conventions, with an important meeting between now and spring.

In the context of a National Assembly without a clear majority and a “game of parties that can be harmful”, the party founded by Emmanuel Macron in April 2016 wants to play “a role of buffer, clarity and stability”, with the “Deliberate choice to maintain constructive conversations” with the Government about the budget “without showing its red lines,” its representatives detailed in a press conference.

The desire to embody “a clear political line”

However, the Macronist formation, which still aims to “overcome” the right and the left, “has not given up embodying a clear and offensive political line” and “building a path over the next two years to propose a future for the country.” ”, we added.

It will launch “general statements” that will be specified in “500 events” from January 13 to February 16, and will be the “cornerstone” of its “refoundation”, as well as programmatic work.

It is about “understanding why” the party, defeated in the legislative elections in June, “is losing momentum” with a number of members – officially over 8,500 – that is “not satisfactory”, and “opening all the drawers”, We promise.

Campaigns to “identify” the party

Renaissance plans to launch militant campaigns “regularly”, with a first “next week” so that the French can “identify” the party.

A big gathering is also being prepared for “the end of winter and the beginning of spring.”

At a programmatic level, the movement “will restart all structuring issues from scratch”, with three thematic conventions: on a “French New Deal” with the idea of going “one step further” on the economic and social level than Emmanuel’s record Macron, who remains “a source of pride”; on the “Regalian model” (immigration, separatism, juvenile justice); and about the ecological transition.

Reluctance to return to pension reform

The group of macronist deputies Together for the Republic, also chaired by Gabriel Attal, will also carry out programmatic work, in “complementarity” with the party, on issues more closely linked to current events: pensions with Stéphanie Rist, immigration with Mathieu Lefèvre, and proportional to Pierre Cazeneuve.

Regarding pensions, which Prime Minister François Bayrou proposes to discuss again, “the parameters can be discussed”, but “any reform that deteriorates the budget balance would be inadequate”, the party warned.

The movement is also preparing for the 2026 municipal elections, but does not “count on early legislative elections.”
