There is no respite for François Bayrou. The new Prime Minister will soon face a first motion of censure, at the initiative of La France insoumise. Just a few hours after the general policy declaration of the head of the Government, Mathilde Panot’s group presented its proposal signed by rebel communists and environmentalists. You will be examined in at least 48 hours.
To justify this motion, which could bring down the Government, as happened with Michel Barnier after only three months in office, the rebels allege the lack of a vote of confidence.
“The Prime Minister’s refusal to request a vote of confidence in the National Assembly following his general policy declaration is an admission (…) the motion of no confidence will be the occasion for a vote of no confidence that will clarify the position of parliamentarians” , write Mathilde Panot and other parliamentarians.
“The sooner you leave, the better,” the LFI leader said directly to François Bayrou on camera.
The mystery of the PS
This first motion of censure has, at this moment, little chance of succeeding. The position of the Socialist Party is not clear, since the members of the Pink Party have established as a principle of non-censorship, among other things, a review of the pension reform. Expectations fulfilled by François Bayrou in his general policy statement?
The first secretary of the party, Olivier Faure, who is due to comment on the censorship in a television interview this Tuesday night.
But even if the socialists supported this proposal, the result would not change. It is rather the position of the National Rally that can determine the outcome of the vote, as was the case with the previous government of Michel Barnier.
“Nothing about purchasing power, nothing about insecurity, nothing concrete about immigration: the lives of the French are largely absent from this speech for nothing,” commented party president Jordan Bardella, without commenting on this deadline.
