BE wants a real update of wages and pensions and a national pass of 9 euros

The Bloco de Esquerda announced this Friday that it will submit nearly 150 proposals to amend the state budget, such as the effective updating of civil servant salaries and compliance with the legal rule for increasing pensions.

The creation of a nine-euro passenger program that will allow the use of all public transport in municipalities and metropolitan areas, as well as road and rail transport that will provide connections throughout the national territory, is another proposal that the party in the specialty will present.

At a press conference in parliament, MP Mariana Mortágua opined that the government’s proposal for 2023 is characterized by “a cut in wages and pensions, but also generous overall benefits for large companies”.

“It’s an upside down world, and we’re going to focus on these areas,” he summarized and formulated five BE priorities for this budget.

To protect income, BE will propose updating state worker salaries to “either offset the losses of 2022” in the face of rising inflation, or to ensure no income loss in 2023.

“It is the only way to ensure that no state worker loses purchasing power. There is free time, in fact, it seems that the finance minister is struggling to use the free time he has until the end of the year. bring,” the deputy defended.

Still in this area, BE will propose to increase pensions according to the legal formula in force and to adjust the IRS tables to inflation.

To ensure “a fairer economy”, the BE is calling for the taxation of excessive profits in banking, energy and retail, for the end of exemptions for operations with cryptocurrencies, for the reduction of VAT on electricity and gas to 6% and to the clarification that dams must pay IMI.

In the chapter on the universalization of public services, BE wants compensation to be created for displaced teachers (placed more than 60 km from the residence), to prevent the establishment of Type C Family Health Units, which the party considers “the privatization of part of the SNS”, and ending the bribes.

In the field of fundamental rights BE will also propose in the specialism OE2023 to set up a program to prevent and combat violence against women, to introduce a tax on digital multinationals that will feed back into a fund to support the media and to use part of Santa Casa’s profits to fund institutional advertising about the risks of gambling.

Finally, in the priority chosen by the BE for this budget, “protection of housing”, the deputy mentioned measures already proposed, such as the extension of the 2% limit for rent adjustments to new contracts, the end of golden visas and the obligation for banks to renegotiate home loan contracts under certain conditions.
