“He didn’t like being locked in the codes”: Macron pays tribute to the “very unique path” of Pope Francis

In an interview with TV5 Monde, the President of the Republic paid tribute to the sovereign Pontiff, who died on Monday, April 21. He described a man who “tried every second being the Pope who had chosen.”

“I think he tried every second being the Pope who had chosen to be.” In an interview with TV5 Monde and broadcast this Wednesday, April 23, the President of the Republic paid tribute to the Sovereign Pontiff, who died two days ago.

“I take into account this unique alloy he had of freedom, almost insolent, he did not like to be locked in the codes and the extreme sense of fraternity. He liked to be with the most modest,” said the head of state.

“He had a very unique path throughout his pontificate, who embodied with meaning: I think he tried every second being the Pope to which he had chosen to be, be faithful to this child born in Argentina, who had done most of his office in the poor districts of Buenos Aires. It was necessary a lot of will to do so, not to fit.”
