BFMTV survey. 71% of the French believe that dissolution was a bad decision

A year after the dissolution of the Assembly determined by the Head of State, more than 7 out of 10 French maintain a bitter memory and consider it a bad decision.

Almost a year after the dissolution of the National Assembly pronounced by Emmanuel Macron, a new Elabe survey conducted for BFMTV and the Tribune on Sunday reveals that 7 out of 10 (71%) consider that it was “a bad decision”, a figure of 6 points in one year.

This diagnosis is transparty since the questioned are more than 70% to share this opinion in all electorates, and even clearer in the presidential camp (80%). Note that those under 35 are less severe in their trial: 41% of them find that it was a good decision.

The French oppose any new solution

A year later, more than 6 out of 10 French consider that the dissolution and absence of an absolute majority cause blockages and slow public action. In detail, 63% of the French believe that the absence of an absolute majority in the National Assembly is something bad for the country, because this situation causes blockages and slows down political decision making. This opinion is shared particularly with the voters of the presidential camp (73%), those of LR (73%) and those of the RN (69%).

NFP voters are more nuanced (51% bad, 48% good), LFI supporters judging, instead of being a good thing for democracy and debate (57%) and critical supporters of PS (61%). Once again, the youngest are less severe: 53% of young people aged 18-24 judge that it is a good thing.

In addition, public opinion is not in favor of the idea of ​​a new dissolution of the National Assembly. While the President of the Republic would soon have the opportunity to pronounce a new solution, 65% do not want. And more particularly voters together (80%) and LR (68%).

PFN voters are more divided: 55% of LFI supporters would like a new solution, while 70% of socialist supporters reject the hypothesis. As for RN voters, they are a short majority (55%) to want a new solution in the coming weeks and months.

Internet survey from June 3 to 5, 2025, from a sample of 1,610 people representative of residents of continental France of 18 years or more. The representativeness of the sample was ensured according to the quota method applied to the following variables: sex, age and profession of the interviewee after stratification by region and category of agglomeration.
