Emmanuel Macron announced this Friday, June 13, a strengthening of the Sentinela system on Friday, June 13 to “face all potential threats” in France, after the massive attacks of Israel in Iran’s military and nuclear sites.
This Friday morning, the Head of State celebrated a National Security and Defense Council “on the situation and its consequences for our country.”
“With the interested ministers, we have made all the decisions to treat developments in the situation and guarantee the safety of the French everywhere in our territory,” said Emmanuel Macron.
“Our military system in the alert region”
During the night from Thursday to Friday, Israel launched unprecedented attacks against military and nuclear sites and killed senior officials in Iran. For his part, Tehrance promised a “destructive” response.
“Iran has a great responsibility in the destabilization of the entire region,” said Emmanuel Macron this Friday night, who said Iran was “close to a critical stage” that “produces nuclear equipment.”
“There have also been several measures to guarantee the security of our nationals and troops and our embassies in the region. I ask our compatriots not to go there, whatever the pretext,” said the head of state, and added that “our military system in the region is on alert.”
7,000 mobilized soldiers daily
Operation Centinela was created at the end of January 2015 attacks in France. “His goal: the protection of the French against the danger of everyday life,” reads the Ministry of Defense website.
Therefore, the latter indicates that the system “mobilizes almost 7,000 soldiers of armies” daily, in particular to “ensure priority and sensitive sites.”
Soldiers are also present daily near schools, tourist places or even stations and airports.
