Towards a motion of censure? The PS soft the threat if there is no debate about pensions in Parliament.

The head of the socialist deputies Boris Vallaud and the first secretary of PS Olivier Faure threatened François Bayrou with a motion of censure in case the Parliament is not seized of the issue of pensions after the conclave among the social partners.

Will the Socialist Party present a motion of censure against Prime Minister François Bayrou? Several fist training officials and the rose clearly showed this threat this Tuesday, June 17, saying that they are ready to take measures if the conclave on pensions among social couples, which extends until June 23, was not followed by a debate in Parliament.

Boris Vallaud is the first to climb to the niche. From the Hemicycle of the National Assembly, the head of Socialist Deputies has ordered François Bayrou to maintain his “commitments” during traditional questions to the government.

Bayrou accuses Vallaud of “distorting” his words

“Mr. Prime Minister, will it deposit before the summer that breaks the bill of the Government in this regard, authorizing parliamentarians to do their job as parliamentarians?”, He challenged it, while warning: “If he did not (…) he will be exhibited to the motion of censure.”

François Bayrou accused him of “District (er) (s)”, before explaining: “I said that if there was an agreement, I would be subject to Parliament. And if there is no agreement (…), it is the reform as adopted” in December 2023 “that will be applied.”

At the moment, the famous patina of the conclave. It began three and a half months ago and presented itself as a gesture of François Bayrou towards the PS, did not lead an agreement on Tuesday, a scheduled date. Then a final meeting was announced for June 23.

Socialists trust a letter from Prime Minister

Meanwhile, the Socialists remind them of the prime minister who had sent them on January 16 to guarantee their non -censorship in budgetary texts, in exchange for several concessions. Boris Vallaud even shared it in his X account, with a red box in the passage on pensions. François Bayrou writes:

“If social partners are not successful in a global agreement, however, we will present the progress of the social partners, subject to a political agreement and a global financial balance, we will present on this basis a new bill.”

Somewhat complicated observations, but that seemed more attractive than the initial statements of the Prime Minister, who had affirmed during his general policy speech on January 14 that the 2023 reform would continue to apply in the absence of agreement of the social partners.

In addition, François Bayrou also wrote in his letter: “Parliament will have, in any case, the last word.”

In addition to Boris Vallaud, the first secretary of PS Olivier Faure also took care of warning the head of government before some journalists in the National Assembly: “If the Parliament did not have the last word, then, in fact, we would censor us before the end of this session,” he said.

The Socialists plan to present their motion before the end of the ordinary session that must end on Monday, June 30, before the opening of an extraordinary session from July 1 to 11.

The rebels already promise a motion of censure

Meanwhile, several questions arise. The Socialist Party, which showed its division in two different camps during the re -election of Olivier Faure last weekend, is unanimous if it had to present a motion of censure?

In addition, if I came, what position would the national rally adopt, whose voices would be necessary for the adoption of the motion? A reversal of the government could lead to a new solution and, therefore, to legislative elections in which Marine Le Pen could not participate due to his sentence to a judgment of inelegability with immediate execution in the first instance.

Among the rebels, the question of censorship is already resolved. “As soon as this conclave does not lead to the repeal of pension reform,” which is unthinkable for employers and, therefore, impossible, “we will deposit a motion of censure,” he warned Manuel Bompard, LFI coordinator, in RTL this Wednesday.
