The head of the Republicans (LR) Bruno Retailleau announced on Wednesday, June 18, the launch of a membership campaign of the party aimed at “honest people”, arguing in particular the establishment of limited social assistance to differentiate income from the work of those “assistance”.
“I think we can gather very broad” with this slogan, said Interior Minister in CNews and Europe 1, launching this campaign on the occasion of June 18 and the call of Gaulle General, of which LR presented as “his heirs.”

The French who “work hard”
“I want to talk to the majority (of the French), those who work hard and who are tired of seeing that others abuse the system and living in the hook of society,” he explained.
“I want us to believe a limit (for) a single social allocation so that there is a difference between labor income and assistance income,” he added, also addressing “those who are fed up (…) to see families that affect family allocations and that leave children spending the time in the streets after midnight.”
Among these “honest people”, the head of LR included the “foreigners who came perfectly legally, who have been perfectly integrated and dare to say the assimilated word and who are tired of seeing illegal and will benefit” from state medical aid (AME).
During the campaign for the presidency of the party this spring, the number of members of the Republicans practically tripled from almost 45,000 to almost 125,000.
