The French president, Emmanuel Macron, called on Thursday, July 10, a common recognition of the state of Palestine by France and the United Kingdom, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer begged to “emphasize” to obtain a high fire in Gaza.
“I believe in the future of the solution of two states (…) that will allow Israel to live in peace and security with its neighbors,” said Emmanuel Macron, who concluded a three -day state visit to the United Kingdom.
During a common press conference with Keir Starmer, the French president emphasized “the need to unite our voices in Paris, London and anywhere else to recognize a state of Palestine and initiate this political dynamic, which is the only conformity with a perspective of peace.”
Israel and the United States oppose this recognition
For his part, the British prime minister said that “the Long Data Policy” of his Labor Party and his government was “to recognize Palestine as part of a process.” “This is still our position,” he said.
However, he added: “The emphasis should now be relentlessly obtained in obtaining a fire that will allow politics to have priority over fighting and allow humanitarian aid and hostages (retained in Gaza, editor’s note) to take care of it.”
On May 19, the United Kingdom, Canada and France had paved the way for the possible recognition, in a joint statement that denounced the “scandalous actions” of the Netanyahu government in the strip of Gaza besieged and hungry.
Since then, none of the leaders of these three countries have been launched. The United States and Israel firmly oppose such a project.
In May 2024, Ireland, Spain and Norway, united a month later by Slovenia, he had announced to recognize the Palestinian State.
