Two LFI chosen will rise on July 18 aboard a new humanitarian boat for Gaza, announced this Thursday, July 10, the rebel deputy Gabrielle Cathala, just over a month after Madleen’s departure, another ship intercepted by Israel.
“For the children of Gaza, to break the humanitarian block, to stop the genocide, we leave next week in our hand”, a ship of the “Fleet for Freedom”, an international movement of non -violent support for the Palestinians, he announced in X.
The deputy said she would climb the boat in Gallipoli on July 18, in southeastern Italy, with the Eurodiputa Fourreau, “16 other crew members” and humanitarian aid. The ship will be on the site a few days before.
“It is undoubtedly symbolic aid, but it is a peaceful humanitarian mission, and there is the will for us to stay in our eyes in Gaza during this summer period,” he argued.
A first action in June with Rima Hassan
This initiative will take place for a month and a half after Madleen’s departure, another ship that left Italy on June 1 to “break the Israeli block” in Gaza, prey to a disastrous humanitarian situation after more than twenty months of war.
Then, the sailboat had 12 French, German, Brazilian, Turkish, Swedish, Spaniards and Dutch activists on board, including environmental activist Greta Thunberg and the Eurodiputada Rima Hassan, which had been arrested three days after the interception of the ship, about 185 kilometers west of the coast of Gaza.
This time, according to Gabrielle Cathala, the “Phankala” should, among other things, take American influencer and actor Jacob Berger, the American trade unionist Chris Smalls or the American-Palestinian activist Huwaida Arraf, but also passengers of other nationalities and “several journalists.”
Israel, whose offensive began the day after the attack against the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas on October 7, 2023, a humanitarian block imposed a humanitarian block in early March. This blockade has led to a very serious shortage of food, drugs and other basic needs, and only partially relaxed.
