Several hundred people, including many national and local political leaders, gave a last tribute to Deputy Olivier Marleix this Friday, July 11 in the church of Anet, the town of Eure-Et-Loir where he lived and where he ended his days on Monday at the age of 54.
“It is better to be alive in a corpse that died in a living body,” said his daughter Anna at the beginning of the funeral ceremony accused of emotion in the Saint-Cyr-Julitte church, too extinct to welcome the strong crowds. The deputy’s widow, her two daughters, her father, the former Secretary of State, Alain Marleix, and her mother Evelyne, entered the church after the coffin used by the Firefighters of Anet, a town of almost 3,000 inhabitants of which Olivier Marleix was the mayor from 2008 to 2012 before being elected deputy.
Many political figures attended the ceremony, including Prime Minister François Bayrou, the president of the National Assembly Braun-Pivet and that of the Gérard Larcher Senate. The Republicons, The Political Training of Olivier Marleix, were Represented by their President, The Minister of the Interior Bruno Retailleau, The Boss of the Deputies Laurent Wauquiez, The Former Head of Government Michel Barnier, As Well As The Ministers Annie Genevard (Agriculture), Sophie Primas (Government Spokesperson), Yannick Neuder (Health) and Véronique Louwagie (Commerce).
Other members of the Government, such as the Guardian of the Darmanin (Renaissance) and the Minister of Relations with the Parliament Patrick Mignola (Modem), were also present.
Outside the church, many inhabitants of the 2nd Eure-Et-Eure-Loir district came to meditate in memory of their deputy, holding most of them under the sun in the exploration of the Church, others who sought refuge in the shadow of the neighbors.
“He has always been by our side, of great support,” said Sandrine Slimati, professor at the Dreux priority education network, emphasizing that the deceased had “real convictions.”
