PSD accuses PS of “absolute arrogance” after two proposals fail

The PS was isolated in the negative vote this Tuesday as two PSD amendments to the state budget for 2023 (OE2023) on the decentralization finance fund fell through, leading the social democrats to accuse the socialists of “absolute arrogance”.

At stake was a PSD proposal, which the party called for a vote in plenary, which provided for the assessment of the seismic vulnerability of buildings transferred to municipalities as part of the decentralization process, such as schools, and reinforcement of the decentralization finance fund with the resources necessary to ensure the rehabilitation and recovery of the properties in question.

Another PSD proposal, also within the framework of that Fund and the financing of the municipalities’ decentralized powers, provided that the government would activate an evaluation process every three months “of the adequacy of financial resources in relation to the expenses”. made by the municipalities and correct the financial packages, with proper settlement, within a maximum period of three months, after each evaluation”.

Both initiatives were voted in favor by all parties, except the PS, which voted against.

The result prompted Social Democratic deputy Luís Gomes to state that he once again felt “the steamroller of the majority” and to accuse the PS of “absolute arrogance” by failing to comply with a measure to strengthen school security.

Debate and voting on the OE2023 specialty and amendments began its second day this Tuesday, with the final global vote scheduled for the 25th.
