“Barbarism is there.” After the death of streamer Jean Pormanove he broadcast live on the Kick platform, Bruno Retilleau asked “not to be crossed.”
“We have to find ways to ensure that these platforms, including abroad, are presented to their responsibilities,” said Interior Minister on Wednesday, August 22, outside a trip to Martinica.
“In France we cannot tolerate this type of behavior, we will not open the circuses tomorrow as in the time of the Romans so that people are satisfied with the blood that flows,” he added. “A man is dead, the investigation will tell us more, in any case, we cannot keep our arms crossed in front of this type of abominations.”
In a press release published on Wednesday, August 20, the Republican Party, of which Bruno Retailleau is president, has already formulated a proposal aimed at filtering the content transmitted on social networks: the obligation, for all platforms that disseminate the content in France to use AI as a moderation tool.
Kick undertakes to “collaborate with the authorities”
Jean Pormanove, whose real name is Raphaël Graven, died on Sunday night to Monday in Tales, North of Nice, after 10 days of live video broadcast, showing him, along with another nicknamed man Coudoux, raped and humiliated by two known partners under the pseudos of Narutovie and Safine.
The Nice Judicial Police opened an investigation to “seek the causes of death”, “in parallel” of what was inaugurated on December 16, 2024 after the transmission of a Mediapart article on the acts of the streamers.
Raphaël Graven autopsy revealed that his death “does not have a traumatic origin and is not in relation to the intervention of a third,” said Nice Public Prosecutor on Thursday. “Therefore, the probable causes of death appear of medical and/or toxicological origin.”
The Australian Platform Kick said that “all the co -converters who had participated” in live broadcast were prohibited during the investigation. He also promised to “completely collaborate with the authorities” and declared that undertaking a “complete review” of its French content.
