The deputies Les Républicins, Laurent Wauquiez, said on Thursday, September 4, in RMC-BFMTV that their group will not censor a possible socialist government or a national demonstration, in case of resignation of the Bayroun government.
“We commit ourselves, we: we do not censor. We will not censor a socialist government, we will not censor a government of the RN,” said Laurent Wauquiez this Thursday.
The government in its place seems to last a thread since the prime minister announced that he will request a vote of confidence in the National Assembly on the urgency of absorbing the country on September 8. All oppositions have already announced that they would not vote for this trust, which would force the government to resign.
The question that will arise will be that of the next government. The first secretary of PS Olivier Faure states that Emmanuel Macron appoints a prime minister on the left and said he was ready not to use article 49.3 of the Constitution to govern, which implies finding commitments to the central blockade, for lack of majority for the left in the assembly.
“Why? I try to be consistent with what I tell you. I tell you that I am due to political stability. We are not one of those who leave governments in this country. Simply because, whatever, I think that instability is catastrophic for the country,” added the deputy.
Laurent Wauquiez opposed a solution
Given the risk of political blockade, some parties, the national demonstration in particular, demand a new dissolution of the National Assembly after the probable fall of the government of François Bayrou on September 8. Former President Nicolas Sarkozy also begged on Tuesday a solution as the only “solution” to the current political crisis.
For its part, Laurent Wauquiez, on the contrary, judges a solution “is not a solution.” “Surveys, voting intentions, show very clearly that a solution will give approximately exactly the same result, that is, there is no majority,” said Thursday at RMC-BFMTV.
However, he approved the comments made on Tuesday by Nicolas Sarkozy, who said in Le Figaro that the RN belonged to the “Republican Arch.” “A party that is presented to the elections, which has chosen officials, who is not prohibited and that is legal, of course it is in the Republican arch,” said Laurent Wauquiez.
Regarding the vote of confidence scheduled for Monday, the deputy of Haute-Loire said that “for a spirit of responsibility”, he will vote “without enthusiasm” the confidence of François Bayrou, but warned about the fact that “a large number of deputies” cannot do the same, in particular due to a possible abolition of two holidays proposed by the Prime Minister in his budget by 2026.
