The first secretary of the Socialist Party, Olivier Faure, who wants Emmanuel Macron to designate a left prime minister, had not yet been contacted on Tuesday, September 9 in the Head of State and refused to say if the PS censored a prime minister of the presidential field.
“During the night, I slept in my two ears and, therefore, I did not hear the phone sound,” he replied to France Inter, while the head of state announced his desire to name a new prime minister “in the next few days” after the fall of François Bayrou.
“We must claim power”
When asked about the attitude of the PS in the case of a macronist prime minister like Sébastien Lecornu or Catherine Vautrin, Olivier Faure refused to respond.
“I will not enter into a story that is to say what I would do with this or that. At the moment, we must claim power and ensure that this possibility exists,” he begged while the socialist group, with its 66 deputies, occupies a fundamental role in the National Assembly.
“Today we want a change. Be sure that the French who express their exasperation can finally find a political exit through a change that cannot, from my point of view, the continuation of what we have known for a long time,” he argued.
