The president of the Republicans (LR) Bruno Retailleau established the “limits” of his training on Sunday to participate in the government of Sébastien Lecornu, including the fight against immigration and “assistance”, as well as the refusal of Zucman’s tax on the senior heritage claimed by the left.
“I established two limits for the conditions to be met to participate in the government: the first is the best interest of the nation, in France and the other, they are our convictions,” said Interior Minister renouncing during a militant demonstration in Drusnheim (Bas-Rhin).
“If tomorrow a policy was made to satisfy the left, if tomorrow we had to institute Zucman’s tax (…) with this tax, our own companies could flee, we could witness a relocation. So without a doubt the dialogue, but not challenging the higher interests of our country,” he said.
Zucman’s tax opposition
Zucman’s tax, named for economist Gabriel Zucman, would consist of a 2% floor tax on the assets of more than 100 million euros. The Socialist Party (PS), of which the prime minister also needs Republicans to adopt their budget, included it in its counteracted project, but this tax awakens a free opposition to the right and in the center.
“If tomorrow they told me” but Bruno, to make a reason, the French left does not want to hear about the hardening of immigration, “what should we do, betray ourselves? If they told us tomorrow” we have to continue assistance “(…), what should we do?” Bruno Retailleau continued.
“If this type of confusion is established in the government tomorrow, this left right -wing mixture, with a limit that would not be clear, what would be the beneficiary? It is not us, it would be the two radical wings,” the national demonstration and the rebel France, he said.
