The VAT on the purchase and repair of bicycles and all canned fish and canned molluscs will go to the reduced rate, according to proposals from Livre and PS respectively approved this Wednesday.
In the case of VAT on bicycles, the reduction in the VAT rate is part of a proposal to amend the state budget for 2023 (OE2023), approved by Livre this Wednesday during the specialty vote.
The proposal received a favorable vote from all parties, with only the PSD abstaining.
Also in the context of VAT, a proposal for an amendment was approved, endorsed by the PS in the sense that at the reduced rate of 6% (current value on the mainland) of all canned fish and molluscs.
The aim is to harmonize the tax rate, starting to include canned fish products in the list of reduced VAT products, even adding other ingredients, as long as the main ingredient is fish, and canned molluscs – currently taxed at up to 13%.
The new rate applies to “preserved fish and molluscs (whole, in fillets or pieces, in water, olive oil, oil or other sauces, in stews, in brine, stuffed and the like, regardless of packaging), with a fish or mollusc content exceeding 50%, with excluding smoked fish, swordfish and sturgeon, if dried, salted or preserved and prepared from roe (caviar)”🇧🇷
The proposal was approved with the affirmative vote of all parties and the negative vote of the PAN.
Another proposal to amend the PS placing at the reduced VAT rate the construction of housing works at a controlled cost, promoted in the Autonomous Region of Madeira or in the Autonomous Region of the Azores, by Investimentos Habitacionais da Madeira (IHM, EPERAM) or by the Regional Directorate of Housing in the Azores, respectively, giving them the same treatment as working on the mainland and certified by the Institute of Housing and Urban Rehabilitation (IHRU).
