November 25, 1975 marked the end of the so-called “continuous revolutionary period”, known by the acronym PREC, a military movement against a possible far-left military coup, a position still contested today by the so-called “military left” . “, which was defeated.
A military apparatus, based on the commando regiment of Amadora, led by the then Lieutenant Colonel Ramalho Eanes, future President of the Republic, stopped the attempted insurrection by military units linked to sectors of the extreme left.
