“You are going to close it”: the deputy Olivier Serva justifies himself and denounces a “denial of democracy”

During a chaotic end to the session in the National Assembly on Thursday, the deputy from Guadeloupe lost his temper, leading to the suspension of the session.

“I expressed suffering”, justified this Friday on BFMTV Olivier Serva, deputy “Freedom, Independents, Overseas and Territories” (Liot) of Guadeloupe.

The day before, during a session on the bill for the reintegration of caregivers not vaccinated against Covid-19, Olivier Serva had launched “You are going to close it” in the direction of the Renaissance deputies who challenged him during his speech.

A reaction that, in the process, has been highly commented. The president of the Renaissance group Aurore Bergé originally planned to request a sanction next Tuesday, before finally trusting the office of the Assembly.

“In general, when a deputy speaks, the others listen to him, it is the least of courtesies, which was not respected,” declared the ultramarine deputy on our antenna, alleging “a reflection of language.”

He added: “I could have told him ‘shut up’.”

Sanctions relegated to the background

Olivier Serva is not afraid of possible sanctions from the Assembly after his invectives in full chamber. “That it be so, it is not my main concern,” he replied. For him, the substance prevails over the form, and the debate on the reintegration of unvaccinated caregivers should attract attention.

During his speech, he denounced the techniques used to slow down the debates and later denounced “small subterfuges”. “You defame democracy with your baseness, you are a minority, accept it,” he said.

This Friday, he added: “I deplore more generally this denial of democracy.”

The Guadeloupe deputy wanted to recall that he came “from countries where we have 40% of people vaccinated” and that “1,500 people in Guadeloupe” would currently be affected by this suspension of unvaccinated toilets against Covid-19. A figure that, however, he could not justify.
