Sébastien Lecornu announced that he will convene a Council of Ministers on Thursday to add to the social security budget the suspension of the pension reform in case of recourse to orders.

A procedure to assure the socialists, whose censure the Prime Minister wants to avoid, that the suspension of the pension reform will be effective if the Government approves the budget by ordinance, without completing the examination of the texts within the deadlines provided for by the Constitution.
“The trap is closing for the PS,” considers Manuel Bompard. For the suspension of the pension reform to become effective, the rebel sees two solutions for the socialists.
Or the PS “will have to vote in favor of the Social Security budget with all the horrors it contains. Otherwise, the Government will impose its budget by ordinance. The PS will then have to reject the censorship and let the budgets pass in order to have the delay” of the pension reform, he lists.

Sébastien Lecornu announces “a corrective letter” to suspend the pension reform
The Prime Minister announces that he has presented “tonight” a letter of amendment to the Council of State to mention the suspension of the pension reform in the social security budget.
This technical procedure allows the Social Security budget to be modified if it had to be approved by order before the Council of Ministers.
At the moment, the social security budget, which must be included word for word in the orders, does not contain any mention of the suspension of the pension reform.
But this amending letter, which still must be approved by the Higher Council of Public Finances and the Council of Ministers, must reflect this modification.
A Council of Ministers this Thursday will allow this change to be endorsed.
