Denouncement of the Franco-Algerian agreement: did your deputy vote in favor of the resolution proposed by RN?

The proposed resolution of the National Rally aimed at denouncing the Franco-Algerian agreement of December 27, 1968 was adopted in the National Assembly by a single vote. On the left, those responsible for this defeat are the absent deputies from the presidential field.

Stupor in the National Assembly. The “parliamentary niche” of the National Rally opened this Thursday, October 30, with a victory for the Lepenist party, which managed to have its proposed resolution aimed at denouncing the Franco-Algerian agreement of December 27, 1968, approved by a single vote.

After two hours of debate, 185 deputies voted in favor of the text while 184 parliamentarians voted against it. A close but clear vote for the RN, which enjoys the first victory in its history in one of its “parliamentary niches.” But on the part of the opponents of the text, many denounced those who were absent, particularly those from the Macronist camp. Only 33 Ensemble pour la République deputies were in the chamber during the vote, out of the group’s 92 elected officials.

The Republican right together with RN

In detail, the text was, of course, voted massively by the National Rally and its allies in the UDR. Almost all of its deputies were present during the vote: only two were absent, one from each party, raising the number of votes in favor of the proposed resolution to 137.

The Republican right of Laurent Wauquiez followed the instructions of the president of his group and the 26 deputies present also voted in favor of the RN text. However, only half of the group’s elected officials were present this Thursday morning at the National Assembly.

The same goes for Horizons elected officials: Seventeen elected officials out of the group’s 34 members participated in the vote and voted in favor. Finally, three unregistered members spoke in favor of the text.

The left unanimously against

In the center of the chamber, the lines were quite sparse. Three Liot deputies, of its 22 members, were present and above all divided: two parliamentarians voted in favor of the proposed resolution and one deputy voted against.

On the side of the Ensemble pour la République, the presidential party, 33 deputies out of 92 voted: 30 spoke against the text and three abstained.

Only a third of the Democratic representatives were present, that is, 12 of 36 elected officials. Ten voted against the text and two abstained.

Finally, on the left of the chamber, all the deputies present voted against the RN text. The insubordinate France (52 votes against), the socialists and related parties (53 votes against), the environmental and social group (32 votes against) and, finally, the Democratic and Republican Left (6 votes against) spoke unanimously against, although here also several deputies were absent.
