OE2023: Bonus increase for single parents rises to 50% in 1st tier

This Thursday, deputies approved a proposal for the free amendment of the National Budget 2023 (OE2023) that increases the allowance for single parents from the current 35% to 50% up to the 1st income bracket.

The proposal of Livre’s only deputy, Rui Tavares, was approved with Chega’s abstention and favorable votes from the other parties in the Budget and Finance Committee during the final part of the vote on the specialty of the OE2023 proposal, with the approved text a replacement version of the one originally presented.

“The amount of child benefit for children and young people in single-parent families will be increased by 50% up to the 1st income bracket and by 42.5% between the 2nd and 4th income bracket”provides for the proposal.

According to the initiative, the increase is increasing “effective April 1, 2023, retroactive to January 1, 2023″🇧🇷

The proposal also stipulates that in January 2024 the amount of child benefit for children and young people from single-parent families will be “increased by 50%”.

The vote on the Livre proposal was scheduled for the first voting day, on Monday, but was postponed to this Thursday, the last voting day on the specialty, at the request of Rui Tavares, who has since been replaced by the now approved version.

Livre’s initial proposal stipulated that by 2023 “all child benefit beneficiaries” would receive a “special monthly supplement corresponding to 30% of the amount of the monthly installment attributable to each beneficiary”.
