Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Affairs with new Secretaries of State

The current Secretary of State for Tax Affairs, Antonio Mendonca Mendeswill the new assistant secretary of state to the prime minister, the presidency of the republic put forward in an official note. The Fiscal Affairs portfolio will remain vacant for the time being until Finance Minister Fernando Medina finds someone to replace him.

Born in Covilhã, Nuno Cardona Fazenda de Almeida is a PS deputy and holds a PhD in regional and urban planning after working with Cotrim de Figueiredo at Turismo de Portugal. In an interview with the website Os230.pt, which introduces the delegates to the Assembly, he stated that “tourism is undoubtedly a strategic sector for the country” and guarantees that he does not follow the statement that “we are overloaded with tourism”. It will be this knowledge that he brings to the Economy portfolio, in times of urgent growth that require the ability to attract business and investment, but also the need to accelerate the PRR. According to Link to Leaders, Pedro Cilínio holds a degree in Industrial Engineering and Management (Instituto Superior Técnico), a Masters in Industrial Management (Faculty of Science and Technology at Universidade Nova de Lisboa), an Executive MBA from INDEGISCTE and also a Masters in Business Management from ISCTE-IUL with a thesis in Innovation Management.
