Covid-19: Emmanuel Macron puts on a mask in the name of “responsibility”

Faced with a ninth wave of Covid-19 to which are added epidemics of flu and bronchiolitis, the executive continues to refuse coercion but does not rule out toughening his position on the mask if the situation requires it.

Emmanuel Macron put on a mask this Thursday during a trip to Vienne, believing that it was necessary to “return to habits” in the face of the rebound in the Covid-19 epidemic, “voluntarily”.

“I follow the recommendations of my minister,” he said, along with Health Minister François Braun, also masked, on the occasion of a session of the National Council for Refoundation (CNR) in Fontaine-le-Comte, near Poitiers. François Bayrou, general secretary of the CNR, first without a mask, finally decided to wear one as well.

“Volunteering and spirit of responsibility”

“Faced with the rebound of the epidemic (…) I think it is good to do pedagogy because we do not necessarily want to return to generalized obligations,” continued the head of state.

“Then it is also a way to resume habits based on volunteering and the spirit of responsibility,” he said.

Faced with a ninth wave of Covid-19 to which are added epidemics of flu and bronchiolitis, the Government continues to refuse coercion but does not rule out toughening its position on the mask if the situation requires it.

This Sunday, François Braun, a guest on BFMTV, launched a “solemn appeal” to encourage the most fragile to get vaccinated against this wave.
