Elisabeth Borne has activated article 49.3 for the ninth time to adopt the “expenses” part of the text in a new reading without a vote. La France Insoumise responded by announcing that it was presenting a new motion of censure.
The President of the Government justifies its use by evoking the need to close the discussion of the 2023 budget on time: it is “a budget that we need on time, on January 1, 2023”.
“The authoritarianism of the government has no limit to impose its policy of social and ecological mistreatment. We present a new motion of no confidence in this government,” Mathilde Panot, head of the LFI group, responded on Twitter.
The part “recipes” adopted
Just before the announcement of this ninth 49.3, the “revenue” part of the 2023 draft budget was de facto approved on Sunday in the Assembly in a new reading, after the failure of a motion of no confidence by the Insoumi.
As expected, given the denial of the right to vote on this motion, but also due to the absence of many deputies who went to the constituencies this weekend, the motion obtained only 78 votes, far from the 289 needed to overthrow the government. .
