• “Personal test” and therapy
From the beginning of this interview, the deputy assured that he has been in therapy for several weeks. “Tout cela n’a rien d’évident, j’ai l’habitude de me retrouver en face-à-face pour évoquer ma vie privée, mais d’habitude, il n’y a pas de caméra”, at -el he says.
More generally, Adrien Quatennens spoke of “a personal matter” of which “I didn’t see anything coming”.
“I do not want to minimize the facts that I have admitted, I am trying to give my share of truth. It is a slap in the face that I always regret, ”she added, assuring that despite her conviction, she did it. he is not “not a bully”.
• “Severe” but “accepted” penalty
On the judicial side, Adrien Quatennens considers that the sentence imposed on him is “severe” but that he “accepts it” since he has “acknowledged a series of facts.”
“There was an exhaustive investigation, hearings, testimonies, psychological expertise, there my phone was checked and the investigation concluded that I was not guilty of repeated violence, harassment, and he recognized what he had publicly recognized, this slap,” he says.
The sentence had been proposed Tuesday morning by the prosecutor of the Republic of Lille to the deputy, who accepted it. It was then publicly approved by a judge, after a closed-door session to “guarantee respect for people’s private and intimate lives” as well as the “serenity of the debates.”
• A slap that the deputy “regrets”
Throughout this interview, Adrien Quatennens also returned to the moment when his partner was slapped in the face. “That day we had a serious discussion with reciprocal threats,” he recalls.
“The subject of the dispute revolved around suspicions about the use of mobile phones,” he evokes on our set.
It was at that moment that he slapped his wife, “a gesture that escaped me” but that he claims to have “immediately regretted”. “I didn’t minimize it, I apologized a lot,” says the deputy on BFMTV.
• “I’m not trying to victimize myself”
The deputy assured that he does not want to “victimize himself”, but that this case cannot “characterize” him. “Can we consider that a fault characterizes a man and can summarize it?” Asks the deputy on our antenna.
“What I complain about, I […]it is the media leaks, the non-compliance with the investigation and the incredible treatment that this generated”, he confides to BFMTV.
In addition, the deputy assured that he had no intention of “reluctantly signing a document that imposes the minimum on me, that is, every two weekends to see my daughter,” says Adrien Quatennens.
• No waiver
In his interview given on Tuesday to the voice of the north, the elected official had assured that he refused to resign his position as the elected representative of the North. This Wednesday, Adrien Quatennens clarified that “if I had been the author of the repeated violence, the question would have been raised.”
“If I resign tomorrow, it would be a rather dangerous precedent that would open the way to the instrumentalization of precious life in politics. There are 577 men and women in the National Assembly, not above women and above men, but they can make mistakes,” he said. .
• A return in January?
As for knowing when his return to the Palais-Bourbon bench will be, Adrien Quatenent assured that he wanted to resume his functions as deputy “as soon as possible, probably already in January, but I will respect the political decision.” “
According to him, his work in the constituency continues and his parliamentary office is still open. “People tell me ‘okay enough, when are you coming back?'” he says.
On the other hand, the deputy refuses to resign in order to challenge his elected place by vote. “What would happen? A campaign in good and honest conditions? I want to take my share, but no more,” adds Adrien Quatennens.
• The “confidant” Mélenchon
Asked about his relationship with the leader of La France Insoumise, who had come to his defense in a controversial tweet shortly after the appearance of this matter, Adrien Quatennens assured that he had a strong relationship with him.
“Jean-Luc Mélenchon is a confidant, I have a relationship that is not only political with him,” he said.
• Complaint by Gérald Darmanin
After the parliamentarian’s interview in the voice of the north, the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, has decided to file a complaint for defamation. Adrien Quetennens denounced on this day an “unprecedented media lynching”, “directly orchestrated from the Ministry of the Interior” according to “several concurring sources”.
“I am surprised that the Minister of the Interior does not have better things to do than file a complaint against me,” said the LFI deputy on Wednesday night on BFMTV. “It doesn’t matter who did this (handrail leaks, editor’s note), this is called a violation of instruction to the detriment of a victim,” she continues.
“Everything that was against me has been leaked and everything that, on the contrary, restores a bit of truth and points out the inconsistencies of my former partner has not been leaked,” added the deputy.
