A man will be tried in June for threatening the LR deputy for Aube, Valérie Bazin-Malgras, with a BB gun this Wednesday while she was putting up posters, we learned this Saturday from the Troyes prosecutor’s office.
The man will be tried on June 7 for violence involving the use or threat of a weapon, prosecutor Julie Bernier said, confirming information from eastern lightning. He was placed under judicial supervision.
“Extremely shocked by so much violence”
The aggravating circumstance of violence against a person exercising public authority was not upheld because Valérie Bazin-Malgras’s status as deputy for the 2nd constituency of Aube de Valérie Bazin-Malgras “was not known to her”, she said, adding that the man believed he was trying to with “young people who once again degraded the billboard.”
The events took place on Wednesday night in Bordes-Aumont, where the deputy, her daughter and her parliamentary assistant posted posters presenting the wishes of the elected official. The 45-year-old man, “a bit drunk,” first told them he was going to “take his .22” (a rifle) and then fired rubber bullets from an airsoft gun, causing no injuries.
His record has four mentions for property damage, according to the prosecutor. “I hope that justice punishes him severely,” said Valérie Bazin-Malgras, who said she was “extremely shocked by so much violence.”
