Four years after the emergence of the movement – without a doubt the most lively challenge that Macron’s first five-year period has suffered – the yellow vests continue to have colors. At least some of them hope to relaunch their mobilization on the occasion of this January 7, the first Saturday of this first month of the year. In fact, a collective is calling for new meetings, mainly in Paris. Scope of demonstrations, states: BFMTV.com takes stock of the contours of the movement at this stage.
• A Parisian movement but one that also looks towards the regions
The call was launched by a collective of “yellow vests and angry citizens”. They intend to meet on Saturday in Paris. They emphasize, however, that participation in this event will be according to the means of the people.
That is to say that the organizers do not rule out that some of its members mobilize in other cities, in case of impossibility to go to the capital.
• Few “participants” in social networks
In fact, this group summons to meet every fortnight for several months under the name of “Call of the people.” But officials noted particular enthusiasm for the Jan. 7 call.
“Our call has gained a lot of momentum both in the media and on social networks thanks to people we don’t know,” said one manager.
Crazy to be qualified, though: On the various Facebook pages that responded to the call, only a few hundred people indicated they would “participate” for sure. For example, if the “All in Paris on January 7th” page has 336 netizens saying they are “interested” in the upcoming event at the time of writing, there are only 94 additional people to ensure their participation.
• The demands of the mobilization
The organizers list their slogans in the following terms: “Speak out our anger loud and clear, defend the purchasing power of the working classes when the profits of the CAC 40 billionaires have never been higher.” For them, “only the social movement and the general strike are the bulwarks against neoliberal and therefore fascist politics.”
The summary operated on Monday by the parisian among the circles of protesters, the breadth of the spectrum of demands stands out, ranging from the protest against the pension reform, the high cost of living (particularly around the price of energy) and inflation, or even against frequent employment by the government of article 49.3 of the Constitution that allows shortening the parliamentary debate to approve a disputed bill.

Therefore, if the yellow vests hope to do the number in Paris on Saturday, while hypothetical concentrations in the regions are mentioned, the precise location of the mobilization remains to be determined. The collective simply indicates that it is “negotiating” with the Paris police headquarters. The latter, however, reports that he has not yet received any statement from this group.
Meeting calls should be rejected in the plural, however one of the paths is more precisely defined. The one projected by the group called “Vigi Médias”, the only demonstration declared for the moment, which intends to concentrate the headquarters of the World – described as “the temple of propaganda” – in the 13th arrondissement of Paris as of france night – this time portrayed as the representative of “true journalism” – in the 7th district. He gives an appointment to his supporters from 2:30 p.m.
It should be remembered that this group, active for several months, invites those who follow it to demonstrate every first Saturday of the month. Nothing weird then.
• Law enforcement serene at this stage
At the moment, the Paris Police Prefecture is not showing particular concern and the possible device is unknown. However, it is still too early to predict the number of protesters who will march through the capital.
